Menjar rajoles?

Innovation Spaces

‘Menjar rajoles?’ (‘Shall we eat bricks?’) is a temporary installation for the Miradors de l’Horta 2025 festival organised by Turisme Carraixet. Is the vegetable garden a place for growing fruit and vegetables, or a vacant plot earmarked for property development?

The installation is situated in Bonrepòs i Mirambell, on one of the vacant plots bordering the urban environment. The proposal invites reflection on the vegetable garden as a space for food production in contrast to the dynamics of the property market. Brick, a traditional local material and a symbol of urban development pressure, is used to create walls, arches and pillars that sprout like crops, representing the tension between agriculture and urbanisation. It is a minimalist installation that invites reflection and discussion on the cultural and natural value of the vegetable garden.

Foro València Sostenible

Innovation Labs Participation

The Foro València Sostenible is a platform where various key stakeholders in the city of Valencia come together to develop, from a technical and strategic perspective, initiatives that enhance the resilience of the city and its citizens to the effects of climate change.

The organisations participating in the Foro València Sostenible adhere to criteria of balance between the different sectors and the themes of Valencia City Council’s Climate Action Plan (Mobility, Energy, Biodiversity and Adaptation, Urban Planning and Housing, Innovation, Economy and Tourism, Water, Food and Waste Management). A cross-cutting area has also been incorporated to bring together perspectives on sustainability from the fields of education, culture and just transition.

At Carpe, we have supported the coordination and facilitation of this multi-sectoral collaborative body during its set-up and launch phase. Together with Fundació Clima i Energia (OAM València Sostenible), a process was designed to promote distributed leadership and the collaborative creation of projects with a local impact. To this end, tools are used that promote collective action based on principles of shared responsibility, dialogue and multi-sectoral mobilisation, transparency and an eco-social transition approach.

Foro València Sostenible is a project co-funded by the European Union (InterReg) through the URBACT network.
