Conlloga
A proposal for the renovation and extension of an innovative public apartment block in Castelló de la Plana.
Conlloga is developed within the framework of the Projectes Pilot (Public housing pilot programme). These are a series of project competitions promoted by the Regional Ministry of Housing and Bioclimatic Architecture for the construction of public housing demonstrating innovative and sustainable construction.
“Conlloga is a word from the north of the Valencian Country that designates a group of people with common interests who share a supportive and friendly company”.
The design consists of a building with 17 dwellings and common areas for affordable rental. The flexible design of the dwellings enables to accommodate diverse families and to adapt to the changing lives of the residents. The sustainability is at the core of the proposal: all the dwellings have good natural light, cross ventilation and balconies to improve thermal comfort and reduce energy consumption.
The common areas are designed to be visible, open and safe, in order to encourage the socialization of the residents and shared life.
All in all, Conlloga is an innovative public housing proposal, in social, economic and environmental terms.
